Company Development History

Our founder, Dylon, spent 15 years at leading international industrial design firms. Over that time, he saw the same problem again and again. Smart hardware projects rarely failed because of a bad idea or weak technology. They failed because of a gap — between strategy, design, engineering, and manufacturing.
Some projects had brilliant concepts that never made it to production. Some looked great in design but got torn apart in engineering. Others reached mass production, only to expose serious cost or quality issues too late to fix.
So in 2020, Dylon founded OPD Design in Shenzhen to fix this. He built a team that connects product strategy, industrial design, engineering, and supply chain into one process. Every decision we make centers on two things: feasibility and readiness for mass production.
We don’t ask only how a product looks. We ask whether it can be built, whether it will hold up, and whether it can last in the market.
Today, OPD Design works with clients around the world — from early-stage startups to global brands. We guide products from concept through to mass production. Dylon leads OPD Design with 15 years of industrial design and product strategy experience. He founded the company in 2020 to close the gap between design, engineering, and manufacturing.

Our injection molding workshop is equipped with numerous advanced injection molding machines of various specifications, capable of accommodating a wide range of product sizes. The workshop features professional mold installation and debugging equipment, alongside an automated material conveying system. Our dedicated technical team, comprising 60 skilled professionals, rigorously oversees the production process to ensure the highest quality of each injection molding product.

The spraying workshop is designed as a 10,000-level dust-free environment. Our main production process utilizes a fully automated two-coat and two-bake spraying technique. The automatic line is equipped with high-quality spray gun equipment and high-energy UV light curing equipment.

Cooperation Model

We follow a structured New Product Introduction (NPI) process across five stages: POC → EVT → DVT → PVT → MP.

 

  • POC (Proof of Concept): We define product positioning, scope, and feasibility through user research and technical assessment.
  • EVT (Engineering Validation): We build functional prototypes to verify core performance and identify technical risks early.
  • DVT (Design Validation): We refine design, complete DFM analysis, and run reliability testing to lock in mass production readiness.
  • PVT (Production Validation): We run small-batch trials to validate assembly, QC systems, and packaging at production speed.
  • MP (Mass Production): We manage scaled production with ongoing quality control, supply chain coordination, and continuous improvement.

How is my intellectual property protected?

We sign a mutual NDA before any project discussions. All design files, prototypes, and deliverables created during your project belong fully to you. We maintain strict internal access controls and never share client information with third parties.

The development of hardware products is time-consuming because updates and iterations are difficult and costly. Therefore, we will do a lot of work to ensure better implementation of the product.
