Children's KTV Development

Children's KTV development - dual microphone kids karaoke device with AI pronunciation correction

OPD Design delivered the children’s KTV product development for WanYin — a dual-microphone kids karaoke device with AI pronunciation correction, parent-child interaction features, and animal-themed microphone covers. The project covered industrial design, mechanical design, hardware development, firmware development, functional prototyping, and packaging design.

Project Background

WanYin, as a smart product brand, is committed to helping children develop good habits through intelligent products and services. They understand that children’s KTV growth journey is filled with exploration and challenges, and thus aspire to provide children’s KTV with an enjoyable and effective learning platform through innovative products.

WanYin possessed an advanced smart algorithm system that could accurately correct children’s incorrect pronunciation and undesirable vocabulary. However, they faced a challenge in transforming this technological advantage into a practical product and delivering it to users through an appropriate approach.

Our Children's KTV Development Process

Step 1-Product Definition & Market Research

We analyzed the family entertainment market and children’s karaoke trends, identified target use cases in home entertainment and family venues, and worked with the client to define age-appropriate content requirements, durability standards for children’s use and audio quality targets.

Step 2-Industrial Design

We designed a child-friendly form with rounded edges, impact-resistant housing and playful visual elements. The industrial design balanced speaker performance requirements with safety considerations, including a stable base geometry resistant to tipping and a control layout accessible to young users.

Step 3-Mechanical (Structural) Engineering

We engineered the internal structure for speaker mounting, display bracket and control panel assembly. The mechanical design incorporated reinforced speaker baffles for vibration isolation and a secure battery compartment for portable models, with material selection focused on child-safe, durable components.

Step 4-Hardware & Firmware Development

We integrated the speaker drivers, amplifier, display module and microphone input. Firmware development covered audio processing, child-friendly UI navigation and Bluetooth/wireless connectivity, with safety features including volume limiting and session timer controls.

Step 5-Functional Prototyping

We built functional prototypes and conducted audio quality testing, UI responsiveness validation and durability testing including drop tests and handling simulations. User trials with children and parents informed iterative refinements to the interface and form factor.

Step 6-Mold Development

We managed mold tooling for the main enclosure, speaker grille and control panel. T0/T1 trials confirmed part quality and assembly fit, with attention to the child-safe surface finish and the secure fastening of internal components.

Step 7-Supply Chain & Mass Production Support

We coordinated sourcing for the speaker drivers, display panels, microphone and electronic components, managed pilot assembly runs and supported volume production with quality inspection processes across our manufacturing network.
