Project Background
WanYin, as a smart product brand, is committed to helping children develop good habits through intelligent products and services. They understand that children’s KTV growth journey is filled with exploration and challenges, and thus aspire to provide children’s KTV with an enjoyable and effective learning platform through innovative products.
WanYin possessed an advanced smart algorithm system that could accurately correct children’s incorrect pronunciation and undesirable vocabulary. However, they faced a challenge in transforming this technological advantage into a practical product and delivering it to users through an appropriate approach.
Product Development Process

Creative Conception & Product Strategy
We envisioned a child-friendly KTV product that combines devices and software. The product offers intelligent pronunciation correction and diverse game elements, allowing children to learn through play and grow through learning.
Product strategy work locked in the target user (children ages 4-10), price band, and core value proposition before design started. This kept the whole team aligned and avoided mid-project pivots.
Industrial Design
We took into account children’s psychological characteristics and aesthetic preferences in the exterior design, blending cartoon elements with a technological aesthetic to create a cute yet stylish product.
We designed two microphones to encourage parent-child interaction or friendship collaborations between children. We also crafted a series of microphone covers featuring different animal designs to offer users personalized choices.
Mechanical & Hardware Design
The mechanical design turned the industrial design into something that could be built. This included working out wall thickness, snap-fit joints, and how internal components like the PCB, battery, and speakers fit inside the housing.
Hardware development covered component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout. The dual-microphone setup required careful acoustic design to ensure both voice capture and audio output quality.
Firmware Development
Firmware development brought the hardware to life. The firmware integrated WanYin’s proprietary AI pronunciation correction algorithm, real-time voice processing, and game logic.
Firmware work also covered Bluetooth connectivity, OTA update capability, and power management to maximize battery life during extended use.
Prototyping & Testing
We moved through multiple prototype rounds:
– A rough proof-of-concept to check basic fit and form
– A working prototype with real electronics to test the AI algorithm and acoustic performance
– A finished-look sample that matched the planned color, texture, and finish
Testing covered drop testing, button cycle testing, and acoustic validation to ensure the product met quality standards before mass production.
Packaging Design
Packaging design completed the product experience. We designed retail packaging that protected the device during shipping, communicated the product’s value on shelf, and included all necessary compliance marks and user documentation.
