RF Beauty Device Product Development
OPD Design partnered with V.DER, a Japanese beauty device brand, to develop the Royal Princess Multi-Level RF Beauty Device. The project covered industrial and mechanical design, hardware and firmware engineering, functional prototyping, user testing and packaging design for a handheld RF skin-tightening device with integrated cooling function.
Project Background
V.DER, a leader in the beauty device industry, strives to provide its consumers with high-quality and innovative beauty products. To satisfy the market’s demand for efficient and safe beauty devices, V.DER has partnered with our team to develop the Royal Princess Multi-Level RF Beauty Device.
Solution
Tailored to V.DER’s needs, we proposed the following core solutions:
- Optimization of Multi-Level RF Technology: Through advanced RF technology, the device achieves uniform energy distribution, accelerates blood circulation, promotes collagen production, and enhances skin elasticity.
- Integration of Cooling Function: Innovatively incorporating a cooling function, the device soothes the skin after treatment, locks in moisture, and enhances user comfort.

Our RF Beauty Device Development Process
We followed OPD Design’s standard product development process, adapted to the regulatory, ergonomic and electronic requirements of a handheld RF beauty device for the Japanese market.
Step 1-Product Definition & Market Research
We analyzed the handheld RF beauty device market, competitor products and user expectations together with V.DER to define target skin concerns, RF levels, cooling requirements and pricing.
Step 2-Industrial Design
We created an ergonomic handheld form factor with an intuitive power button, level indicator and RF head, iterating through several rounds with V.DER to balance aesthetics, comfort and manufacturability.
Step 3-Mechanical / Structural Engineering
We engineered the internal structure to accommodate the RF module, cooling system, battery and PCB, while ensuring durability, safety and cost-effective manufacturing.
Step 4-Hardware & Firmware Development
We designed the circuit board, selected RF components and developed firmware for precise multi-level RF energy control, cooling function activation and user interface interaction, validated through bench testing.
Step 5-Functional Prototyping
We built functional prototypes and ran functional, performance and user-experience testing, including trials with target users, iterating until all targets for RF output, cooling effect and usability were met.
Step 6-Design Verification & Compliance Support
We refined the design based on prototype results and supported alignment with applicable Japanese and international requirements for consumer electronics and beauty devices (e.g. PSE / relevant electrical safety standards).
Step 7-Packaging Design
We designed retail packaging aligned with V.DER’s brand identity, covering unboxing experience, accessory layout and regulatory labeling for the Japanese market.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can you develop multi-level RF and cooling functions in one device?
Yes. For V.DER we integrated a multi-level RF energy system with an active cooling function, engineered the corresponding PCB and firmware, and validated both through prototype testing.
2. What market regulations do you support for beauty devices?
Depending on the target market, we can support alignment with relevant consumer electronics and beauty-device requirements such as PSE (Japan), FCC (US), CE (EU) and applicable electrical safety standards. Specific certification numbers are confirmed with engineering per project.
3. How long does a typical RF beauty device development project take?
Timelines vary with scope (design only vs. design through prototyping and compliance). After reviewing your requirements we provide a detailed schedule.
4. How long does a typical electric bicycle development project take?
Timelines vary with scope (design only vs. design through prototyping, compliance and packaging). After reviewing your requirements we provide a detailed schedule.
5. Can you support projects for the Japanese market?
Yes. The V.DER RF beauty device was developed for a Japanese brand, and our Shenzhen team supports design, engineering and prototyping for clients in Japan. Compliance and packaging support are added based on project scope.
